Background

Mark turned Professional in 1985 after a successful amateur career. He qualified at the PGA National Training Academy in 1989 gaining the Titleist Footjoy Scholarship for outstanding achievment. Despite a relatively successful playing career Mark turned his attentions to coaching full time in the early 90's having some immediate high profile success with European Tour players Patrick Hall and Steven Bottomley.

Mark held positions as Club Professional at Dore and Totley Golf Club in Sheffield and Cookridge Hall Golf Club in Leeds before being approached by De Vere to move to the PGA National Golf Academy at the De Vere Belfry. Here Mark held the position of Head Teaching Professional and Academy Manager at arguably the UK's no1 golf resort.

More recently Mark has moved back to native Yorkshire as Director of Instruction at the 5 star DeVere Oulton Hall as well as combining this role with that of coach to his stable of European Tour players.

Throughout his career Mark has given over 25,000 golf lessons to all levels of golfer, he has developed successful Academies from scratch, managed world class facilirties and been innovative in providing coaching programmes for all standards of golfer.

In addition Mark has presented at PGA Coaching Conferences and has coached golfers that have played at all levels of the amateur game and Professionals that have won tournaments on the Europro, Challenge and PGA European Tours.

As well as a successful golf coach Mark has been a regular contributing Professional to magazines, such as Today's Golfer as well as TV appearances on the Golf Channel, Sky Sports and a commentator for the PGA Europro Tour.

Mark is particularly proud of the 10 years coaching Phillip Archer which have seen him develop from a talented assistant Professional to one of Europes's top 30 and a GB&I Seve Trophy team member.

More recently Mark as formed is own company to deal with the coaching of Elite players. The Performance Management Group not only handles the coaching of Mark's Tour Players but funds the coaching of up and coming players who may financially not be able to access top level coaching.
